Lanc\u00e9 en mai 1986 par Shinseisha et publi\u00e9 \u00e0 l'origine tous les deux mois, G<em>amest<\/em>\u00a0est n\u00e9 du fanzine bimensuel\u00a0<em>Lettre d'information VG2<\/em> depuis le d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 1980.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le magazine s'est d'abord concentr\u00e9 sur les jeux d'arcade de type \"shoot 'em up\" avant de couvrir tous les genres et surtout de les battre tous. Au fil des ans, le magazine Gamest a eu une pl\u00e9thore de r\u00e9dacteurs passionn\u00e9s et talentueux. Un grand nombre des premiers auteurs de Gamest provenaient de VG2 et VG3, des publications auto\u00e9dit\u00e9es qui se concentraient sur les premiers jeux d'arcade. L'un des graphistes les plus connus, Han, largement reconnu pour son travail sur Treasure, a \u00e9galement fait partie de l'\u00e9quipe de r\u00e9daction de Gamest pendant un certain temps. En 1992, Gamest a compil\u00e9 toutes les sections de l'\u00eele qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 publi\u00e9es dans un livre incroyable : \"Gamest Island Mokushiroku\". Chaque ann\u00e9e, Gamest organisait \u00e9galement un sondage sur le \"personnage pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9\" vot\u00e9 par les lecteurs, accompagn\u00e9 de sous-sondages altern\u00e9s pour diverses cat\u00e9gories de personnages.
